Dr. Silver-Rose

When Dr. Silver-Rose saw me waiting for her in the lobby area of Cyborg Psych, her expression was one of shock.

"Are you waiting for me, Mr. Cruz?" she asked, briefcase in hand and about to walk through to her office.

"Yes, I am, doctor."

"Okay. You can follow."

We were back in her office and consulting room. She gestured to the chair in front of her desk. I sat before she did.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Cruz, but why would you want to see me again?"

"My appearance seems to have upset you."

"Not at all, but I've heard that your life has become quite busy lately. You seem to be very adept at shooting criminals. I hear you could hold your own against the top marksmen in Metro PD. To what do you attribute your talent?"

"Video games."

"I know many people who play shooting games in virtual reality and in virtual life, but few, I doubt, come close to your proficiency. You should have joined law enforcement."

"I might have if not for the body cams."

"Yes, body cams and Police Watch over your shoulder. You might have to follow the law all the time."

"Exactly."

"What can I help you with this time, Mr. Cruz?"

"I have a general request. I know you've said that everyone in Cyborg Psych works for you, but that you aren't their boss. It's just one big happy family. However, in terms of employment files, including psych evals, that would be under your supervision and control."

"That's correct, Mr. Cruz."

"Good, I was hoping I came to the right person. I'd like to know about the psych and medical files of all your staff."

"Excuse me, Mr. Cruz."

"Could you provide me information on any staff members who would have a psych or medical issue?"

"Certainly not, Mr. Cruz. That's privileged and confidential information. Mr. Cruz, I do know something about you and your methods. Why don't you ask your real question rather than play your games?"

"Because you'll say no."

"I already said no, so why continue this conversation?"

"Does Classic Cyborg have any psych or medical condition that would make him susceptible to weakness—physically, psychologically, financially, or in any other way?"

"Mr. Cruz, you can leave right now."

"Doctor, this is important."

"So is patient privacy."

"It'll take me time, but I get the info I need."

"Not with my help."

"Why don't you tell me and but I'll go away?"

"You will go away, Mr. Cruz. I'll also make sure you're not allowed back into the division ever again."

I stared at her, then smiled.

"Thank you."

"Why are you thanking me?"

"You answered my question. I'll go away."

"I didn't answer any question."

"Yes, you did. You do this thing when you're trying to hide something."

"I don't do any 'thing' when I'm hiding something, and I'm not hiding anything. Privacy is an important thing in society, Mr. Cruz. As a health care profession, we guard that knowledge."

"If you say so. What's the penalty for releasing a person's mental and psych file?"

"Termination, prosecution, fines, imprisonment, and permanent revocation of their medical health license."

"So the bribe would have to be rather large."

"Bribe?"

"Yeah, I'm going to have to find someone to bribe to get the information I need.
